Suspect Arrested in April 13th Wilko Lane Shooting

Following an extensive investigation into the April 13, 2026, shooting of a 20-year-old man, Joliet Police detectives identified Ozell Seaton (19, Willowbrook) as a suspect in this case.

On July 1, 2026, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Seaton with Aggravated Battery (Class X Felony), Armed Robbery (Class X Felony), Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony), Possession of a Firearm Without a Requisite Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (Class 3 Felony), and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony).

On the morning of July 14, 2026, members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Seaton in Willowbrook. He was transported to the Joliet Police Department for processing before being transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

On April 13, 2026, at 3:49 a.m., officers responded to Edward C. Wilko Lane, west of Houbolt Road, for a report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old male lying in the grass with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department and later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he remains in critical condition.

Officers and detectives canvassed the area in an effort to gather additional evidence and information. This appears to be an isolated incident.
