On June 30, 2026, at 11:54 a.m., officers responded to the 76 Gas Station (1805 West Jefferson Street) for a report of an employee who had been battered.

Upon arrival, officers located an 80-year-old male employee inside the store suffering from a bleeding head wound. The investigation determined that the victim had been struck multiple times with a wooden stick by a male suspect who fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Joliet Fire Department paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to Saint Joseph Medical Center for further evaluation.

During the investigation, officers recovered the wooden stick believed to have been used in the attack. Following a preliminary review of store surveillance footage, it was learned that the suspect entered the store and immediately engaged in an argument with the victim.

The victim initially picked up the stick in an apparent attempt to defend himself before the suspect allegedly knocked him to the ground, took possession of the stick, and struck him multiple times in the head and face. The suspect then fled the business on foot. Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate him.

As the investigation continued, officers and detectives identified the suspect as Jeffrey Bohn (31, homeless). On July 4, 2026, at 2:41 p.m., officers located Bohn in the 200 block of South Larkin Avenue and took him into custody without incident.

Bohn was charged with three counts of Aggravated Battery. He was processed at the Joliet Police Department before being transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
