Here are the Forest Preserve District of Will County programs for the week of June 8. Online registration is available on the Event Calendar at ReconnectWithNature.org.

Intro to Gardening for Wildlife: 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, Tempest Farm, Washington Township east of Beecher. Learn beginner-friendly native plant gardening strategies and tour a conservation easement to see how native plants support pollinators and wildlife year-round. Ages 12 or older; free. Register by Friday, June 5.

Crochet for Wildlife: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, Hidden Lakes Trout Farm, Bolingbrook. Help wildlife rehabilitation centers by crocheting small nests for animals in need during this special Worldwide Knit in Public Day program. Ages 12 or older; free. Register by Tuesday, June 9.

Fun & Food Trucks: 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 12, Whalon Lake, Naperville. The Forest Preserve’s summer Fun & Food Trucks series kicks off with live music by The Jukebox Heroes, food trucks, lawn games, kids activities and giveaways. Additional Fun & Food Trucks events will be held July 17 at Monee Reservoir as part of Surf-n-Turf and Aug. 7 at Forsythe Woods Forked Creek Shelter. All ages; free.

Water Play at Whalon Lake: 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 12, Whalon Lake, Naperville. Splash through a mini wetland play area with toy frogs and fish while learning about the importance of wetland habitats and wildlife. While you are splashing around, make sure to visit the food trucks and enjoy live music that will be at Whalon Lake for the Fun & Food Trucks event. All ages; free.

Lake Renwick Migratory Bird Viewing: 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays through Aug. 9, Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Nature Preserve, Plainfield. See nesting herons, egrets and cormorants — and possibly bald eagles — during special controlled-access viewing hours at this popular seasonal birding program. All ages; free.

Tic-Tac-GO!: June 13 through July 26; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete Township; and 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, Monee Reservoir, Monee Township. Pick up themed exploration activity sheets, complete outdoor challenges and earn prizes during this ongoing summer adventure program. All ages; free.

Pollinator Party: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, Isle a la Cache Museum, Romeoville. Celebrate Pollinator Week early with live bats, crafts, pollination challenges, native plants and family-friendly activities focused on birds, bees, bats and more. Learn about the insects and the animals that perform the important task of pollinating plants that produce our food. Tacos Maui food truck and Kona Ice will be onsite. All ages; free.

Native Plant Sale: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, Isle a la Cache Museum, Romeoville. Shop a selection of native plants perfect for pollinators while getting expert advice during the Pollinator Party celebration. Plants will be $3 per plug, and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds benefit The Nature Foundation of Will County. All ages; free.

Beat the Heat Twilight Hike: 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, Monee Reservoir, Monee Township. Join a naturalist for an evening hike to look for bats, listen for birds settling in and enjoy a Popsicle after the adventure. Ages 8 or older; free. Register by Thursday, June 11.
