Spooky Mocktails at Isle a la Cache
Trick-or-treat takes a tasty turn at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache preserve with Mocktober for adults from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16.
“Think of Mocktober at Isle a la Cache as an adult trick-or-treat program,” said Sara Russell, an interpretive naturalist at Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville. “You get to come out to Isle a la Cache after hours and make stops at the Museum and throughout the preserve, but instead of candy, you get to enjoy a different mocktail at each stop. You’re even welcome to come in costume.”
Participants will stroll through the museum and preserve, sipping seasonal mocktail mixes along the way. Sign up by Tuesday, Oct. 14; call 815-722-9301 or register online at ReconnectWithNature.org The program is for ages 21 and older and costs $5 per person.
“We’ve had so much fun taste-testing and developing the recipes that fit the fall feel at the museum and preserve,” Russell said. “We’re honoring the season by highlighting apples and campfire flavors”
Recipes will be available so you can make the mocktails at home or turn them into cocktails.
“Some of the flavors will be sweet as treats but you might be in for some trick – or unexpected flavors,” said Jenna Krukowski, an interpretive naturalist at the Museum. “No matter if you are a sweet or tart drink person, we will have a full assortment of autumn flavors for you.”
The program stirs up more than just beverages, with a spooky setting, treats and a nighttime campfire.
“And of course, meeting new people who like the same things,” Krukowski added.
Isle a la Cache is located at 501 E. Romeo Road/135th St., Romeoville.
