Here are the Forest Preserve District of Will County programs for the week of Oct. 6. Online registration is available on the Event Calendar at ReconnectWithNature.org.

Hispanic Heritage Month Scavenger Hunt: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays to Sundays through Wednesday, Oct. 15, Hidden Lakes Trout Farm, Bolingbrook. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a self-guided scavenger hunt featuring nature items listed in both Spanish and English. Pick up a guide at the Tackle Box bait shop, search the preserve for items and return your completed sheet for a sweet treat. All ages; free.

Dog Park Glow Up: 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 11, Messenger Marsh Dog Park, Homer Glen. Community members are invited to help improve Messenger Marsh Dog Park by spreading woodchips around trees, removing suckers from trunks, filling divots in the mowed areas and trimming vegetation along the fence line. Tools and supplies will be provided. Permit holders are encouraged to attend without their dogs. Ages 18 or older; free.

Rec Bike Club: 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, McKinley Woods – Kerry Sheridan Grove, Channahon. Join a recreation coordinator for a 12-mile, leisurely group bike ride through the preserve. Complete all four Rec Bike Club rides in this fall series to earn a 2025 Rec Bike Club shirt. Ages 16 or older; free. Register by Friday, Oct. 10. Bicycle and helmet are required.

Volunteer Morning: Joliet Junior College: 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 11, Joliet Junior College, Joliet. Spend a morning helping the community and the environment during a volunteer workday focused on brush control. Ages 10 or older; free. Space is limited; registration is required.
