Fishing for Trash: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday, Sept. 23-28, Hidden Lakes Trout Farm at Hidden Oaks Preserve, Bolingbrook. Help clean up litter that threatens wildlife; pick up a bucket and grabbers and return a filled bucket for a treat. All ages; free.
Be a Trailblazer: 8 a.m.-sunset. Thursday, Sept. 25-Saturday, Nov. 8, various Will County forest preserves. Join this digital scavenger hunt in nature via the free Goosechase app; missions release Sept. 25 and Oct. 17. All ages; free.
Nature Journaling Series: Part 4: 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, Raccoon Grove Nature Preserve, Monee Township. Combine writing, drawing and science in nature; participants receive a journal. Ages 18 or older; $5. Register by Sept. 23.
National Public Lands Day: Volunteer Morning at Hickory Creek — LaPorte Road Access: 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 27, Hickory Creek Preserve — LaPorte Road Access, Mokena. Help with brush control while celebrating National Public Lands Day. Ages 10 or older; free. Space is limited, and registration is required. Four Rivers Story Trail: ‘I’m Trying to Love Spiders’: 8 a.m.-sunset Saturday, Sept. 27-Friday, Oct. 31, Four Rivers Environmental Education Center, Channahon. Follow Bethany Barton’s book along a 0.4-mile accessible trail. All ages; free.
Museum Campus Day: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, Isle a la Cache Museum, Romeoville. Explore the Traders Cabin and Potawatomi longhouse at your own pace. All ages; free.
Family Campout: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27-noon Sunday, Sept. 28, Goodenow Grove Campground, Crete Township. Enjoy a family campout with staff support and activities. All ages; $5. Register by Sept. 22.
National Public Lands Day Community Shoreline Cleanups: Three preserve locations on Saturday, Sept. 27 – 10-11 a.m. at Isle a la Cache, Romeoville; 1-2 p.m., Lake Renwick – Turtle Lake, Plainfield; and 4-5 p.m., Lake Chaminwood, Channahon. Celebrate National Public Lands Day by cleaning shorelines with fellow volunteers to protect wildlife from becoming entangled in improperly disposed fishing line. Ages 5 or older; free.
