Giovanni Simpson (18, Joliet) was arrested, processed, and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon.

Following an investigation into the shooting that took place in the 300 block of Youngs Avenue on January 18, 2025, Detectives identified Simpson as a suspect involved in this shooting.

Simpson was taken into custody by Detectives at his workplace in the 23000 block of West Eames Street in Channahon on January 31, 2025, at 5:53 p.m. Simpson was processed at the Joliet Police Department and then transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

This case remains under active investigation.
