Police Seek Public’s Help Following Lockport Township Shooting
On 08/03/2024, at approximately 11:20 PM, a 911 call was placed regarding a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Nobes Avenue in Lockport Township.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located two shooting victims on the roadway that had been shot. The first victim is a male (age 65) of Lockport Township, who was shot in the head. The second victim is a female (age 40) of Joliet, who was shot in the right foot.
Responding deputies immediately began performing life saving measures on the victims until members of the Lockport Township Fire Protection District were able to take over.
Both victims were transported to a local area hospital for further evaluation. The male victim was airlifted to a Chicago area hospital in critical condition. The female victim is expected to make a full recovery.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) were summoned to the scene to begin the investigation into the shooting of these two individuals.
A neighborhood canvas was conducted by police personnel, and it was learned that the gunfire came from an unknown vehicle that fled the area.
Witnesses stated that the unknown vehicle was driving East on Nobes Avenue when the shooting occurred and continued East on Nobes Avenue at a high rate of speed. Witnesses lost sight of the vehicle as the vehicle drove past Green Garden Place in the Fairmont area of Lockport Township.
Thus far, detectives have been unable to determine a motive in this incident, but this shooting appears to be a targeted attack.
Detectives have conducted numerous interviews regarding this shooting and have received no cooperation from the possible intended targets of this shooting where this incident occurred.
Thus far, no one is in custody for this cowardice senseless act of violence. Shortly after 4:00 PM, members of the Will County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team conducted a search warrant on a residence in the 200 block of Nobes Avenue that is related to this shooting. Police personnel are still on scene, so avoid the area if you can.
Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in this investigation in locating and providing surveillance video of the incident or of the vehicle fleeing the area. This information can remain confidential and anonymous.
