Here are the Forest Preserve District of Will County programs for the week of Jan. 29. Online registration is available on the Event Calendar at ReconnectWithNature.org.

Birding in the Preserves (Zoom Webinar): 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, online. Learn birds and birding from home on this virtual hike through a forest preserve. Each month, a different preserve is highlighted. Free, all ages. Register online for the meeting ID and password.

Winter Camping and Recreation – How-to Webinar (Zoom Webinar)
: 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, online. This informational Zoom program will teach you all you need to know about wintertime recreation in the Forest Preserve District. Find out the best preserves to explore with winter activities like hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, wildlife viewing and more. Free, all ages. Register online for the meeting ID and password.

Nature From Inside Workshop: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, Sugar Creek Administration Center, Joliet. Participants will receive a nature journal and have an opportunity to try an assortment of activities after a presentation on ideas for indoor fun. Snacks and supplies are included. Ages 16 or older; $5 per person. Register by Jan. 31. “

Morning Bird Hike: 8-10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, Hickory Creek – LaPorte Road Access, Mokena. Join other birders to learn, explore and search for winter residents in the preserves. Bring your binoculars and a favorite bird guide. New birders are welcome. Free, ages 16 or older. Register by Feb. 4.

Sensory Sunday: 11 a.m.-noon, Sunday, Feb. 4, Four Rivers Environmental Education Center, Channahon. Guests with sensory-processing needs, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and those that would benefit from a small-group experience are invited to experience the exhibits and trails on their own terms. Free, all ages. Register by Feb. 3.

History at Home – Soup: 11:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, Feb. 4, online. Celebrate National Soup Day by learning all about the history of this delicious slurpy meal, which has become a staple in everyone’s pantry. Free, all ages. Register online for the meeting ID and password.

Birds in Art – Photography Tips and Tricks: 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete Township. Get the best bird photos at the nature center birding area and learn tips and tricks to get the best shot. The program ties into the traveling “Birds in Art” exhibit on display at the nature center through Feb. 25. Free, ages 16 or older. Register by Feb. 2.
