Christmas on Turtle Island (Zoom Webinar): 9-9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, online. Join the Isle a la Cache Blanding’s turtles as they get their (almost) Christmas morning breakfast. You can help Forest Preserve naturalists decide which turtles are on the naughty and nice lists and learn more about the state-endangered species during this virtual program. Free, all ages. Register online for the Zoom link.

Four Rivers Story Trail: 8 a.m.-sunset, Tuesday, Dec. 27, through Tuesday, Jan. 3, Four Rivers Environmental Education Center, Channahon. Enjoy the tale “Over and Under the Snow” by Kate Messner along Four Rivers’ new Story Trail. Read the story along the trail and see for yourself the creatures that are active in winter. At each stop, there will be one to two pages to read. Free, all ages.

Hibernation PJ Party: 10:30 a.m.-noon, Thursday, Dec. 29, Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete Township. Celebrate the animals and critters that hunker down and hibernate through the cold months. Dress in your PJs for this cozy winter break party with stories, games, music, art and more. Free, ages 4-12. Register by Dec. 28.

Feeding Time at Hidden Oaks: 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Bolingbrook. Join Forest Preserve naturalists as they feed the nature center’s animals and learn which animals are carnivores, herbivores, grazers and opportunistic eaters. Free, all ages. Register by Dec. 29.

Holiday Owl Prowl: 4-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, Messenger Woods Nature Preserve, Homer Glen. Find out which owls can be found in Illinois, and then enjoy a guided hike on the trail to listen for owls.
