Under bill, state highway cameras could be used to investigate human trafficking

On July 22, 2026, at 9:42 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Caton Farm Road and West Frontage Road for a report of a traffic crash with injuries.
A preliminary investigation determined that a Volkswagen Atlas, driven by a 41-year-old Alsip man, was traveling eastbound on Caton Farm Road and attempting to turn left onto northbound West Frontage Road.
As the Volkswagen entered the intersection, it collided with a westbound Kawasaki motorcycle operated by a 44-year-old Joliet man, who was accompanied by a 46-year-old Joliet woman as a passenger.
The impact ejected both occupants from the motorcycle. They sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported by the Joliet Fire Department to Saint Joseph Medical Center. Both were later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center for advanced medical treatment. The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured.
Witnesses reported that traffic on Caton Farm Road had a green traffic signal at the time of the collision. The crash scene was reconstructed by members of the Joliet Police Traffic Unit.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with video footage or additional information related to this incident is asked to contact the Joliet Police Traffic Unit at (815) 724-3010.
