Police Seek Suspect in Shooting that Injured Two
On June 15, 2026, at 4:03 p.m., officers responded to Riverwalk Homes Apartments (363 North Broadway Street) for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located a 27-year-old female and a 27-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered medical aid until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene.
The female sustained a gunshot wound to the groin, while the male sustained a gunshot wound to the right arm. Both individuals were transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department. Their injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred following a verbal altercation.
During the investigation, detectives identified a male suspect and learned that an armed security guard working at the apartment complex discharged their firearm after observing the suspect armed with a handgun immediately following the shooting.
Officers and detectives conducted a canvass of the area and recovered spent shell casings at the scene. No additional victims were located, and no other injuries were reported.
Investigators learned that the suspect fled the area in a vehicle following the shooting.
The vehicle was later located in the 1400 block of Dearborn Street. Detectives subsequently obtained consent to search the vehicle and a nearby residence. The suspect was not located at this time.
