Joliet Man Faces Multiple Charges after Crashing into Linda’s Pizza

On March 10, 2026, at 8:50 p.m., Officers responded to Linda’s Pizza, 723 Taylor Street, after a vehicle crashed into the building.
Police learned that Robert Lirot (69, Joliet) was driving a Chevrolet Traverse southbound on Raynor Avenue when he turned left onto Taylor Street, struck the median, then hit an unoccupied parked Buick Regal before crashing into the front of Linda’s Pizza.
The building sustained extensive damage and was evaluated by a City of Joliet building inspector. No other injuries were reported.
Officers determined that Lirot’s driver’s license was revoked, and he did not have proof of insurance. Officers observed signs of alcohol impairment from Lirot and learned he had allegedly consumed prescription medication prior to driving. He completed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody without incident.
Lirot was charged with two counts of Aggravated DUI, DUI, DUI – BAC .08 or More, DUI –Drugs, DUI – Combination of Alcohol and Drugs, and Driving While License Revoked. He was also cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. His vehicle was towed.
After reporting a medical issue at the Joliet Police Department, Lirot was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department. Upon release from the hospital, he was processed and released on a Notice to Appear in court.
