On February 10, 2026, at 11:14 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the Joliet Housing Authority building located at 401 North Bluff Street for a report of an unwanted male. Upon arrival, officers learned that Thomas Love (39, Joliet) had allegedly forced entry into his spouse’s apartment after being informed he was not welcome.

The investigation determined that once inside the apartment, Love allegedly pushed his 22-year-old pregnant spouse to the ground and strangled her. It is further alleged that Love then attacked a 60-year-old male inside the apartment, striking him multiple times.

During the incident, Love’s spouse reportedly intervened by stabbing Love in the head with a small screwdriver in an effort to stop the assault on the 60-year-old male. Love is then accused of pushing the female to the ground and stomping on her stomach.

Love and both victims were transported by the Joliet Fire Department to St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Love was taken into custody without incident. While at the hospital, Love is also accused of pushing an officer.

Following a review of the incident, the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges: Home Invasion (Class X Felony), Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Aggravated Battery – Pregnant Person, Aggravated Battery – Person 60 Years of Age or Older, and Criminal Trespass to State Supported Land.

After his release from the hospital, Love was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
