Two Arrested in Joliet Home Invasion

On January 18, 2026, Acaiyia D. Whitehead, 19, of Plainfield, was arrested, booked, and transported to the WCADF for charges of Home Invasion, Domestic Battery, Battery and Criminal Trespass to Residence.
Also arrested was Javon D. Jimerson, 19, of Joliet, was arrested, booked, and transported to the WCADF for charges of Home Invasion and Criminal Trespass to Residence.
At approximately 9:00 am, Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Delrose for report of a female, Whitehead, that had broken into a residence. The officers met with the victims, a 20-year-old male, and two females, 37 and 60, all of Joliet. They advised that they were all sleeping when they heard a loud knocking and screaming coming from the front door of their house. Upon investigating, they found Whitehead inside of the residence.
Whitehead forced her way into the residence by breaking through the front door damaging the door frame. Whitehead is the ex-girlfriend of the male victim. There were two children inside of the residence under 10-years of age, that were not present or injured.
Whitehead began attacking the residents. The victims defended themselves by fighting back. One of the victims used a baseball bat for defense. Jimerson, who traveled with Whitehead, also entered the residence. Jimerson remained in the residence during the attack. He, however, did not engage in any of the fighting. Jimerson was in and out of the residence during the incident. Whitehead and Jimerson fled the area prior to the officers’ arrival.
They advised Whitehead was upset over money owed to her. The victims sustained minor injuries.
The residence was equipped with video surveillance, which captured Whitehead breaking her way into the residence. Whitehead is seen carrying a rifle type object approaching the front door. Jimerson took this object away from Whitehead and placing it in the vehicle. Ultimately, Whitehead was pulled out of the residence by the male victim and Jimerson. They were both seen leaving the area prior to the officers’ arrival.
Officers went to Whitehead’s residence, the 25,000 block of Latham Ct., Plainfield. With the assistance of the Plainfield Police Department, Officers made contact with the resident. With their cooperation, Whitehead was taken into custody after a short struggle. A short time later, Jimerson was brought out, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Whitehead and Jimerson were transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital for a medical evaluation and treatment for the injuries sustained during the incident. They were both later medically cleared, released and transported to the Joliet Police Booking area
While Whitehead and Jimerson were at the Joliet Police Department, they were questioned about the black object seen in the video that appeared to be a rifle. Both advised officers that the object was a toy. The object was not recovered. They were processed and taken to the WCADF without incident.
