At approximately 7:43 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, the Plainfield Fire Protection District responded to a reported traffic accident in the area of County Line Road and Route 126.

Upon arrival, emergency crews located a single vehicle that had left the roadway and come to rest in a wooded area. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which sustained heavy damage as a result of the crash.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. No additional information is available at this time.
