73-year-old Homer Glen Woman Attacked, Held Hostage in Her Home

Hundreds of police departments use camera company accused of breaking state law

On December 10, 2025, at approximately 2:48 PM, deputies from the Will County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported home invasion in the 16800 block of S. Deer Path in the Village of Homer Glen.

A 73-year-old female resident reported that upon returning home from grocery shopping and pulling her vehicle into her garage, she was confronted by a Black, Male wearing a black hoodie who was holding a handgun. The offender pointed his handgun at her and demanded cash. A second male who was described similarly, exited a dark-colored Acura that had been following her. Responding deputies were able to confirm that the vehicle was stolen out of Chicago.

The offenders forced the victim into her residence at gunpoint, sat her in a chair, and bound her wrists and ankles using items from inside the home. They removed a credit card from her purse, demanding her PIN number, threatening her life. Shortly after leaving the residence, the offenders withdrew $2,000 from the victim’s account at a bank located in Orland Park.

Approximately 20 minutes later, the victim was able to free herself and seek help from a neighbor. Deputies immediately began investigating the incident and disseminated information to surrounding law enforcement agencies in an effort to locate the stolen vehicle. Deputies were able to quickly determine that the offenders and the vehicle were no longer in the area and were headed to the City of Chicago. Attempts to locate the offending vehicle met with negative results.

As the investigation progressed, the Will County Sheriff’s Office communicated details of the incident to Village of Homer Glen officials. At this time, investigators believe this was a random but targeted due to the victim’s age.

We remind the public to remain alert and aware of your surroundings, especially when arriving home. If you observe suspicious individuals or vehicles in your neighborhood, please contact law enforcement immediately.
