Jalen Davis (18, Joliet) has been charged with Burglary (three counts), Possession of Burglary Tools, Criminal Damage to Property, and Obstructing Identification.
On November 20, 2025, at 4:58 a.m., Officers responded to Dollar Tree (2900 Colorado Avenue) for a report of a burglary. Officers observed a glass door that had been shattered by a brick found on the sidewalk near the entrance.
A search of the building revealed that no individuals remained inside. A representative from the store responded to the scene and it was believed that various items of merchandise were taken during the burglary.
Later that same morning at 6:52 a.m., Officers responded to Wendy’s (2900 Plainfield Road) for a report of a burglary. It was learned that as employees arrived to open the restaurant, they observed a person inside run to the rear of the building and exit from the rear door. Employees then called 911.
Officers reviewed video surveillance which showed a male, later identified as Davis, enter through the drive-thru window and remain inside, damaging cash registers, a safe, and other office equipment.
As Officers investigated the burglaries to Dollar Tree and Wendy’s, they learned that a suspicious male wearing a mask was seen at Dunkin’ (3011 Plainfield Road). An Officer located the male at the doors of the business. The male was identified by Officers as Davis after he attempted to provide a false name. Davis was identified as the suspect in the earlier burglary to Dollar Tree and he was placed into custody without incident.
Following a search, Davis was found to be in possession of numerous tools that were believed to be used in the burglaries. Dunkin’ Employees reported fresh damage to the drive-thru window consistent with attempted forced entry.
During a subsequent interview, Davis indicated involvement in the Dollar Tree burglary and acknowledged entering Wendy’s and attempting to enter Dunkin’ Donuts. Officers recovered bags of merchandise taken from Dollar Tree behind the business.
Davis was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Additional charges may be forthcoming pending further review by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office.
