Maximiliano Lara

Following an initial investigation, detectives have charged 25-year-old Maximiliano Lara with Aggravated Battery/Use of a Deadly Weapon (Felony). Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

On September 30, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1400 block of Elgin Avenue in Joliet Township regarding a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies located a 66-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The East Joliet Fire Protection District provided medical care and transported him to a local hospital. While on scene, medical care was also given to a second man who had sustained a stab wound prior to their arrival.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office understands that reports of violence in our neighborhoods can cause concern for residents. Our priority is always the safety and well-being of the community, and we want to assure residents that there is currently no ongoing threat connected to this incident.
