Suspect in Circle K Armed Robbery Arrested
Devion Smith (27, Joliet) has been arrested and chargedwith Armed Robbery and is currently being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Following an investigation of an armed robbery that took place at the Circle K gas station locatedat 2422 Route 59 during the early morning hours of September 13, 2025, Detectives were able to identify Smith as the suspect.
Smith was questioned by Joliet Police Detectives later that same morning on September 13, 2025, following his arrest for a similar armed robbery in Morris, but he invoked his right to an
attorney.
Detectives continued their investigation at that time.
During the afternoon hours of September 18, 2025, it was learned that Smith was at the Morris Police Department following his pre-trial release from the Grundy County Jail. The case was reviewed by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, who approved the armed robbery charge.
Officers from the Joliet Police Tactical Unit responded to the Morris Police Department and placed Smith into custody without incident. He was transported to the Joliet Police Department for processing and then transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
