Neighbor Dispute Leads to Shooting Arrest

Hundreds of police departments use camera company accused of breaking state law

On August 29, 2025, a 25-year-old male subject from Joliet was arrested.

At this time, charges are pending.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Joliet officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Ann Street for a report of a neighbor discharging a firearm into the air. Upon arrival, officers learned the incident stemmed from a neighbor dispute in which the suspect went outside and fired one round into the air.

No one was injured by the gunfire, and it is unknown at this time if any property damage occurred.

As a precaution, a reverse 9-1-1 notification was sent to residents in the area advising them to shelter in place.

Nearby schools were also asked to delay dismissal to reduce pedestrian traffic in the vicinity.

Officers made contact with the suspect and took him into custody without incident. Due to the nature of the call, the Joliet Special Operations Squad (S.O.S.) responded to secure the scene. The residence was searched to ensure no one inside was armed or injured; no occupants were located. The scene was then released back to responding officers and detectives.

The suspect was transported to the Joliet Police Investigations Division for questioning.

This remains an active investigation in its early stages. Anyone with information or video footage related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Joliet Police Department’s Investigations Division at 815-724-3020.
