Two Additional Suspects Identified in 2023 Homicide
Angel Magana (20, Joliet) was arrested and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for First Degree Murder (3 Counts), Attempted First Degree Murder, and Aggravated Battery.
Latrell Woodall (20, Joliet) was arrested and remains at the Will County Adult Detention Facility for First Degree Murder (3 Counts), Attempted First Degree Murder, and Aggravated Battery.
During the continued investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 5, 2022, in the 1800 block of McDonough Street, both Magana and Woodall were identified as additional suspects in the shooting death of a 16-year-old male and the shooting of a 13-year-old male, who
survived the attack.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Magana and Woodall on July 24, 2025, for the charges listed above.
Magana was taken into custody by Tactical Officers during a traffic stop near Cherry Hill Road and Ellis Road in the afternoon hours of July 24, 2025.
Detectives served the warrant to
Woodall at the Will County Adult Detention Facility on July 24, 2025, as he is incarcerated on unrelated charges.
“The arrest of these additional suspects is a major step forward in our department’s pursuit of securing justice for those affected by violent crimes,” said Police Chief Bill Evans in a press release.
“Our hearts remain with the victim’s family, and we extend our deepest condolences. I want to thank our dedicated Detectives for their relentless pursuit of those responsible for this senseless violence even almost three years after the tragedy. I am also proud of the members of our Tactical Unit for their outstanding work in this case.

On April 26, 2023, Eleuterio Roman (20, Joliet) was arrested, processed, and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for First-Degree Murder (3 Counts), Attempted First Degree Murder (1 Count), and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (1 Count).
On September 5, 2022, at 11:18 PM, Officers responded to the 1800 block of McDonough Street for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, Officers located two male juveniles, ages 16 and 13, that had been struck by gunfire as they walked in the area. It was initially determined that the 16-year-old juvenile had sustained a possibly life-threatening gunshot wound and the 13-year-old had been grazed by the gunfire.
Officers immediately rendered medical aid to both victims until the Joliet Fire Department arrived at the scene. Both gunshot victims were transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by ambulance where the 16-year-old juvenile was pronounced deceased.
During this investigation, detectives and Officers secured the crime scene and conducted an extensive canvas of the area. Following an extensive investigation of this case, Joliet Police Detectives identified Roman as a
suspect involved in the shooting.
The case was reviewed by the Will County State’s Attorney’s office.
