16-year-olds Arrested on Weapons, Drug Charges
A 16-year-old male was arrested and transported to the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center for Armed Violence, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (2 Counts), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Obstructing a Peace Officer.
An additional 16-year-old was arrested and transported to the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center for Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer and Obstructing a Peace Officer.
On July 22, 2025, at 6:43 p.m., Tactical Officers were patrolling the 900 block of Lloyds Avenue when their squad was obstructed by three male individuals walking in the middle of the roadway near Francis Street. Officers stopped to address the individuals and asked them to identify themselves, but all three males refused.
One of the juveniles, later identified as a 16-year-old male, ran from Officers southbound on Lloyds Avenue while carrying a backpack. Officers pursued this male and apprehended him in the 500 block of Meeker Avenue. Officers recovered the backpack being carried by the juvenile and it was found to contain two loaded handguns, one with a high-capacity magazine, along with additional ammunition and suspected Oxycodone pills.
Officers caught up to the additional 16-year-old male and during this apprehension, the 16 additional 16-year-old male kicked an officer. The third male was not located, despite an area search with the assistance of a K9 unit.
