Arrest Made in February Fatal Crash

Jacoby Hamilton (19, Crest Hill) was arrested, processed, and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Four Counts of Reckless Homicide.

Following an expansive investigation of a fatal crash that occurred in the early morning hours of February 18, 2024, investigators from the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit and Investigations Division determined Hamilton had caused the crash resulting in the deaths of driver Walter Kretzler (65, Joliet) and passenger Roxane Holt (59, Joliet).

Investigators secured an arrest warrant for Hamilton for four counts of Reckless Homicide on May 3, 2024. Hamilton was placed into custody by Joliet Officers on May 3, 2024, at 4:48 p.m., at his residence in the 1400 block of Pioneer Road in Crest Hill.

Hamilton was transported to the Joliet Police Department, where he was processed and then transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

“My thoughts are first and foremost with those who have lost loved ones in this devastating and senseless crash,” said Police Chief Bill Evans. “I commend the diligent work of our officers and detectives who responded to the scene and conducted the follow-up investigation leading to this arrest

“A tragedy such as this only reaffirms our commitment to roadway safety, which will always remain a priority for the Joliet Police Department.”
