Womens Committee Meets
The Women for Family Farms Committee met at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 13th with the following members present: Melissa Hack, Kelly Reus, Kelly Sinka, Ashley Davis, Loretta Sartore, Karen Warrick and Mark Schneidewind, Farm Bureau manager.
The minutes from the October meeting were approved as printed. Ashley reported on the Christmas party coming soon and to get in your reservation as a white elephant exchange and several games are being planned. The group has collected to date about $15,000 for wreaths cross america and want to go over the $20,000 this year. We have until November 26th. The new signs look good and we had a meeting with the cemetery 3 weeks back. We have heard from 4 of the 7 trucking firms bringing in wreaths and Dave has aligned for the livestock trailers.
They set up an hour before this meeting for their fall luncheon and went over speaking parts, raffles, the hats, gloves and scarves part of their program and made a few adjustments. They will select a women location for dropping off the donations. They thanked Tracey for all her assistance with today’s program. They have Nancy Kyhajda booked for April 6th for a seminar on house plants, starting plants inside and raised garden beds.
Ashley reported on the upcoming Will County Farm Bureau annual meeting set for January 25th and talked about helping with the raffle ticket sales. Peotone FFA will the present colors and serve ice cream. They have collected about 100 hats so far as the theme is “Hats off the Agriculture” and will discuss how to decorate with these at their January meeting. The auction will be online this year and there will be NO live auction this year. We do have standup comedian for this year’s entertainment.
They were excited to be asked back to help with the Ag Education Golf outing for 2025 which is set for Friday, July 25th at Green Garden Country Club with a new meal choice this year. Christmas Cuties has started as has Christmas pets and farm animals with some entries made already. For Family Fun night the committee has booked the balloon person and the musical entertainment but need to work on face painting and photo ID and finger printing.
The group discussed a spring flowers program and have agreed to do it again and will work with Jeff and set a date in the next 60 days. They are working on an additional marketing program for women with Britt O’Connell and will shoot for a day in late February to early March. They asked about a backdrop for the annual meeting for pictures like a picture booth and this will be investigated. They adjourned the meeting at 11:10 am and the next meeting was set for January 9th at 6:30 pm 2025.
