From the Will County Sheriff’s Office:

On July 9, 2026, Will County Sheriff’s Police deputies were dispatched to West Goodenow Road west of Illinois 394, Crete Township. Deputies located a truck had struck the bridge overhead, causing significant damage and causing a road closure for the time being.

Sheriff’s deputies are working to clear the roadway, but are waiting for the railroad bridge to be inspected for safety before allowing cars through. Thank you to Crete Emergency Management for their prompt arrival on scene to assist with the road closure. We will work to clear the roadway as soon as possible.
