207U Superintendent Taking Manteno Role

Superintendent Brandon Owens will step down from his role with Peotone School District 207U, with plans to remain in the position through June 30, district officials confirmed.
Owens, who has served as superintendent for the past couple of years, is leaving district leadership to return to a building-level role. He has accepted a position as principal at Manteno Elementary School, marking a transition back into day-to-day school administration.
Before being named superintendent, Owens served as the district’s director of curriculum and instruction, where he played a key role in shaping academic programming and instructional practices. His move to the superintendent’s office followed years of experience within the district.
Owens issued the following statement to district families in March, “After careful consideration and reflection, I have informed the Board of Education that I will be resigning as Superintendent of Peotone CUSD 207U, effective at the conclusion of this school year.
“I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to serve the district in instructional and administrative roles for a total of 12 years, the last five of which have been as the Director of Curriculum & Instruction and Superintendent. I would also like to thank our Peotone families and community for their support over these years. As we wrap up 2025-2026, I remain committed to a positive and productive end to this school year.
“The Board of Education is currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 Superintendent vacancy. We anticipate the reviewing process and potential interviews to begin in the coming weeks. More information related to the superintendent search will be forthcoming.”
The Board of Education has already begun the search for Owens’ replacement. While a specific timeline has not been announced, officials indicated the process is underway as the district looks to ensure a smooth leadership transition ahead of the next school year.
Owens’ departure comes amid a broader trend of administrative turnover in Peotone schools, as the district works to balance leadership continuity with evolving educational needs and a significant deficit. Additional details, including any interim leadership plans, are expected to be shared as the search progresses.
