ARPA Grant Benefits Manhattan Township Food Pantry

With their $68,380 ARPA Grant from Will County, Manhattan Township was able to make enhancements to their Food Pantry that serves over 60 households each month.

The addition of LED lights, new overhead doors, steel roof, drainage repair and reconstructed parking lot, their drive-thru food pantry has made providing donations to these families a fast and efficient system. The pantry serves about 60 households every month on the first and third Monday, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, the food pantry volunteers needed to find a way to continue serving those in-need while adhering to the state-mandated safety protocols,” said Jim Walsh, Manhattan Township supervisor.

“Thankfully, because of the ARPA funding we received from Will County, our cold storage building received the necessary updates quicker than our budget would have allowed for. Now our food pantry volunteers can provide services to our families in a warm, safe space every month from here on out.”
