Robb Appointed New Richland Superintendent
At the regular meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 20, the Richland School District 88A Board of Education selected Dr. Philip Robb to be the next superintendent, replacing Joseph Simpkins, who is retiring on June 30, 2024, after seven years at Richland in Crest Hill and 33 total years in the field of education.
Robb will assume official duties on July 1, 2024. Robb, a regionally and state-recognized educator, has been with the district since 2009. He currently serves as the District’s Chief School Business Official.
“I am incredibly honored and thankful to have been selected to serve as the next Superintendent of Richland 88A,” Robb said. “My family and I are excited for this new journey as I continue to serve our students, faculty, and community to my highest capacity.”
Robb looks forward to a seamless transition as he collaborates with Simpkins, gaining valuable
insights, while contributing to the district’s continued success.
“I look forward to partnering with the Board of Education and all stakeholders in this new role to ensure the Richland 88A school community is a great place to live, work, and learn,” Robb added.
Robb’s educational preparation includes a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis, a Chief School Business Official (CSBO) endorsement from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Governors State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Kentucky.
“The Richland Board of Education is proud to name Dr. Phil Robb as our next superintendent,” said Stephanie S. Hernandez, Richland Board President, following the board’s vote.
“Dr. Robb has shown great passion for education and the Richland community. He has displayed the values, talent, and drive that will continue moving Richland in a forward direction. His commitment to the Richland Community is sure to contribute positively to the district’s growth and our continued success in becoming a premier district in Will County.”
