Farm Days Gone By
Doug Gougar shares this photo of the Thrashing Team on the Gougar Farm in 1930. Pictured, left to right, Augie Studtman, Rob Nelson, Ray McCune, Ed or Henry Brookman, Kenny Nelson, Albert Eich, Charlie Nelson, Harlow Gougar, Ben Studtman, and Norman Pieper. The owners of the thrashing machine, also called the Thrashing Ring, were Harlow Gougar, Rob Nelson, Charlie Nelson, Ben Studtman and Ray McCune. The thrashing machine was kept in a shed at the Gougar Farm between New Lenox and Joliet on Gougar Road. Although the thrashing machine has long gone, the shed still stands today behind the barn and will always be affectionately called the "Thrashing Machine Shed."
