Swing Dance Exhibit at Gallery 7
Gallery Seven, housed in the historic Gaylord Building in Lockport, is presenting an exhibit by Lockport Artist Kathryn Claahsen.
The exhibit entitled “Song of Freedom: An Exploration of Dance through Painting” reflects Claahsen’s passions. She explains, “The scenes I portray are based on my lived experience where dance can create a place for all people to be represented and welcomed.”
A native of Chicago’s south side, Claahsen studied at The School of the Art Institute after graduating from Thomas Aquinas College in California.
The exhibit will continue through February 26th on the third floor of the Gaylord Building, 200 W. 8th St. in downtown Lockport. The gallery features work from its seven members and local, national, and international artists. Works on display include Photography, Paintings, Sculpture, Woodworking, Pottery and Jewelry.
The Gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from noon to 3 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.
