Juvenile Arrested in Connection with Shootings at Gardner and Doris.

On June 22, 2025, A male Juvenile (16, Joliet) was arrested, processed, and transported to the Will County River Valley Justice Center (RVJC) on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
On June 22, 2025, at about 1:30 AM, officers were conducting a crime prevention detail in the vicinity of Gardner Street and Doris Avenue. They heard several loud pops, which they identified as gunshots. The officers then observed two male individuals running northbound on Sherman Street.
One of the officers pursued one of the subjects and noticed that he was carrying a handgun in his hand while running. The officers issued commands for him to drop the handgun, which he eventually complied with.
He was subsequently taken into custody in the 900 block of Sherman Street, where the loaded handgun was recovered.
A search for the second subject was conducted using a Joliet Police drone, along with a K9 unit and its handler from the Channahon Police; however, the second subject could not be located.
The officers discovered a residence and a vehicle in the 1000 block of Sherman Street that had been struck by gunfire. Fortunately, no individuals were injured as a result of the gunfire.
The firearm that the juvenile was observed possessing has been recovered.
The juvenile in custody was transported to the Joliet Police booking area for processing. He was approved for pod placement by the personnel at the Will County River Valley Justice Center (RVJC).
Following processing, he was transported to the RVJC without any further incidents.
