Police Arrest Man Allegedly Threatening Neighbors with Rifle

Jorge Medina (50, Joliet) was arrested and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Disorderly Conduct (3 Counts), and Obstructing a Peace Officer.
On June 16, 2025, at 9:21 a.m., Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Norton Avenue after it was reported that a resident, later identified as Medina, was seen outside of his home holding a rifle and allegedly pointing it at others in the neighborhood.
While Officers attempted to speak with Medina, he initially picked up a shovel and ignored commands before dropping the shovel and fleeing toward his backyard. Officers quickly caught up to Medina and placed him into custody.
During the arrest, Medina’s pit bull breed dog escaped from the fenced yard and bit an Officer, requiring medical treatment at a local hospital.
Officers recovered the rifle from Medina’s home, which was determined to be a muzzle loader-type weapon.
