Two Injured, Two Arrested in Reedwood Shooting

Under bill, state highway cameras could be used to investigate human trafficking

 

Devejuan Norris (19, Shorewood) was arrested and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Jeremy Franklin (18, Joliet) was arrested and released on a Notice to Appear for Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

On June 7, 2025, at 10:22 p.m., Officers responded to the 900 block of Marion Street for a report of shots fired. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Cruz near West Jefferson Street and May Street after the vehicle was observed quickly leaving the area.

During the stop, Officers discovered an 18-year-old male in the backseat with a gunshot wound to his left leg.

Officers immediately provided medical aid until arrival of Joliet Fire Department paramedics.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by ambulance with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Franklin was identified as the driver and Norris was an additional passenger in the vehicle. It was determined that Franklin held a suspended driver’s license.

Norris was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm in his waistband, and it was determined that he was also sitting on an additional handgun. One of the firearms was determined to be stolen.

Officers located ammunition in the vehicle following a search. Both were placed into custody without incident.

The shooting was believed to have occurred outside a residence in the 900 block of Marion Street. It was discovered that a nearby garage and an unoccupied vehicle had been struck by gunfire.

Officers completed a full canvass of the area. During the investigation, it was learned that a 17-year-old male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg arrived at St. Joseph Medical Center in a private vehicle. It is believed that both victims were shot near the 900 block of Marion Street.
