UPDATE: Two killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

On June 6, 2025, at 5:57 p.m., Officers responded to the 1100 block of Westminster Road for a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries.
A preliminary investigation of the crash determined that a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a male (67, Joliet) with a female passenger (75, Joliet) was northbound on Westminster Road from Clara Avenue.
It is believed that the Jeep veered off the roadway to the east and struck multiple trees, causing the vehicle to roll over and come to rest in a front yard of a residence.
The female passenger was extricated from the vehicle and transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department in critical condition.
The driver was also extricated from the vehicle and showed no signs of life following an evaluation by paramedics. The driver would later be pronounced deceased at the scene by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
This traffic crash remains under active investigation. The roadway was temporarily closed to allow Joliet Police Department Traffic Investigators to conduct a thorough reconstruction of the scene.
The office of Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers identified the deceased as Norman J. Wetherbee age 67 of Joliet.
The passenger, Beverly J. Wetherbee, age 75 also of Joliet, was pronounced deceased at 11:18 p.m. Friday June 6, at Prime St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Joliet, according to the Coroner’s Office.
