Larkin Avenue Lane Closures Begin April 29

LANE-CLOSURE
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that as part of the ongoing reconstruction and modernization of Interstate 80, lane closures are scheduled to take place on Larkin Avenue (Illinois 7) beginning, weather permitting, after the evening rush Tuesday, April 29.
The closures are necessary to reconstruct and reconfigure the existing interchange at I-80 and Larkin Avenue.
To complete the work, beginning Tuesday, Larkin Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions between McDonough Street and Meadow Avenue. The public also should expect various lane shifts on both sides of Larkin Avenue and periodic overnight lane closures on I-80.
Additionally, the I-80 ramps (eastbound and westbound) to southbound Larkin Avenue and the southbound Larkin Avenue ramp to eastbound I-80 closed in March. Motorists should continue to follow the posted detours.
All of the work is anticipated to be completed by the end of this year.
The public should continue to expect lane shifts, overnight lane closures and significant delays and to allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
