Police Respond to Fatal Accident
On April 9, 2025, at 7:44 a.m., Officers responded to the intersection of Essington Road and Caton Farm Road for a report of a traffic crash with injuries.
A preliminary investigation of the crash has determined the following: It is believed that a Buick Enclave driven by a male (71, Joliet) with a female passenger (77, Joliet) was northbound on Essington Road approaching Caton Farm Road in the left turn lane. The Buick proceeded to make a left turn toward westbound Caton Farm Road and was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle by a Ford F-150 driven by a male (19, Crest Hill) that was southbound on Essington Road. The occupants of both vehicles were transported to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department.
The 77-year-old female passenger of the Buick was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The drivers of both vehicles sustained minor injuries in the collision. It is believed that the traffic light was green for both northbound and southbound lanes of Essington Road.
The roadway was closed as the crash scene was reconstructed by traffic crash investigators.
Identification of the victim and manner of death will be determined by the Will County Coroner’s Office. This crash currently remains under investigation.
