Domestic Battery Arrest Leads to Weapons Charges

State highway shootings decline as critics sue over ‘dragnet surveillance’

Alastair Williams (50, Joliet) was arrested, processed, and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and Domestic Battery.

On April 2, 2025, at about 1:30 a.m., Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Third Avenue for a report of a domestic battery. The victim alleged that her husband, Williams, had choked her. Officers located evidence of a shooting inside of the home and learned that a firearm was discharged during the incident, striking a cell phone.
Officers encountered Williams in front of the residence, and he was taken into custody without incident. Williams was unarmed at the time of arrest. There was no complaint of injuries from this incident. Officers and Detectives completed a canvass of the area following the incident.

Later in the morning at 8 a.m., Joliet Police Detectives executed a search warrant related to this incident at the Third Avenue residence. Two firearms and ammunition were recovered as a result of this search. The discharge of the firearm remains under investigation at this time.
