Wagner

Ronald E. Wagner “Ron”, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2025.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Linda Wagner (nee Holmes); his children Neil (Trina) Wagner, Brad (Misty) Wagner, and Kylie (Greg Volkman) Olson; grandchildren Destiny Larsen, Eddie Larsen, and Emma (Nicholas) Davis, great-grandchildren Rayland, Jemmik, and Ariya Larsen; siblings Leora (late Milton) Batson and Marlene (Richard) Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Lillie Wagner, special aunt Tillie Wischhover, and his lifelong friend, Glen Pauling.

Ron graduated from Peotone High School in 1962. He retired from Will-DuPage Service after 40 years as a grain bin building specialist. If ever there was a man who loved his job, it was Ron. One of his largest loves was riding his lawn mower. He was a handyman extraordinaire who took great pride in being “Mr. Fix-It”.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Manhattan and their DartBall team. He happily spent 25 years as his wife’s music man when they taught country line dancing to folks in the area. He was also a Charter Member of the KingsWay Kickers Dance Club. Ron was a supportive partner to his wife, a loving dad, and a good friend to many.

Special thanks to hospice nurse, Tony Richard, and dear caregiver, Matt Disabato. “We were blessed by both of you and your loving care. We also send heartfelt thanks to Reverend Pat Morton for the visits and prayers.” – Linda

Visitation for Ron was held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Manhattan on Saturday, March 29, with funeral services held at 11 a.m. Procession followed immediately for interment at Manhattan Center Cemetery, 25403 S. Cedar Road, Manhattan.

Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL, 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
