Arrests Made in 2024 Fatal Hit-and-Run

Deal Kennedy James Deal (40, Joliet) was arrested, processed, and released on a Notice to Appear for Failure to Report a Vehicle Crash Involving Personal Injury or Death (Class 1 Felony) and Failure to Stop After Having a Vehicle Crash Involving Personal Injury or Death (Class 4 Felony).
Dominique Kennedy (36, Aurora) was arrested, processed, and released on a Notice to Appear for False Report of a Vehicle Theft (Class 2 Felony), Obstructing Justice (Class 4 Felony), and Disorderly Conduct (Class 4 Felony).
Following an extensive investigation, Detectives identified Deal as the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu that struck and killed 62-year-old Joliet resident Robert Redmond Jr during the evening hours of December 14, 2024, at Fourth Avenue and South Chicago Street.
It is alleged that Deal did not stop after the accident nor report the accident.
It is believed that Kennedy falsely reported the Chevrolet Malibu stolen following the crash. This vehicle was located by Will County Sheriff Deputies on December 15, 2024.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Deal and Kennedy for the above listed charges on March 13, 2025. Kennedy was taken into custody shortly after noon on March 17, 2025, at her residence in Aurora. Deal was taken into custody on March 17, 2025, at 4:34 p.m., after turning himself in at the Joliet Police Department West Station.
Both were processed and released on a Notice to Appear.
