Man Arrested in Connection with Severely Injured Child

On 03/15/2025, at approximately 6:50 PM, deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the 21500 block of W. Franklin Circle in Unincorporated Plainfield for a report of a 2-year-old child that was unconscious but breathing.
When deputies arrived, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) members of the Lockport Township Fire Protection District were already on scene removing the child from the home. The child was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
EMS first responders notified responding deputies that the child had suspicious injuries which included bruising to the left eye of the child and to her abdomen.
Once at the hospital, the 2-year-old was examined by an Emergency Room Doctor. The examining doctor informed deputies that the child’s condition was critical and that she would need be transferred to a Chicago area hospital for further treatment.
The doctor informed responding deputies that the girl had a “blown left pupil”, “left-sided gaze preference”, bruising to the left orbital area, and potential internal injuries. Both the mother of the child and the mother’s boyfriend were home at the time of this incident.
The boyfriend, Jordan Padilla (age 21) of Plainfield, made statements to EMS personnel that were not consistent with how the child received the observed bruising to her face.
Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and detectives responded to this incident to begin their investigation. The mother of the child and Jordan Padilla were transported to the Will County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex for further questioning.
While being questioned by detectives, Jordan Padilla, made incriminating statements regarding how the 2-year-old child was injured. During the interview, detectives requested Jordan Padilla to demonstrate to them how the child was injured. Detectives were able to determine that the 2-year-old child was struck in the face by Jordan Padilla’s elbow.
Detectives would later learn that the child sustained a fractured skull and had a brain bleed as result of this incident. The child is in critical condition, but is stable while being treated at a Chicago area hospital.
Jordan Padilla was charged with battery, domestic battery, aggravated battery, aggravated domestic battery, and aggravated battery of a child. Jordan Padilla was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility (WCADF) and will remain in custody, awaiting his initial court appearance.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the responding members of the Lockport Township Fire Protection District for their quick response and critical life-saving care of the injured 2-year-old child.
