Missing Crete 18-year-old Found Deceased
The Will County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the unfortunate news that missing Crete resident, 18-year-old, Samuel N. Green, has been located and is deceased.
Yesterday, 2/9/25, around noon, a Sheriff’s deputy located Samuel deceased hidden underneath a drain pipe. Since his disappearance on February 6th, the Sheriff’s Office has done continuous searches and investigated informational leads to locate him.
Yesterday, another concerted effort was conducted with the focus being close to Samuel’s home on the 23800 block of S. Plum Valley in Crete. While an Emergency Management drone team searched from the air, Sheriff’s deputies combed a wooded area near a creek where Samuel was then found.
The Green family was immediately notified. Crete Fire personnel and the Will County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene. The Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy and manner of death will be released upon its conclusion.
Deputies had been told that Samuel suffers from schizophrenia, paranoia, and other undiagnosed mental illnesses. The complainant told deputies that Samuel was prescribed medication for his condition but had not received or taken any due to insurance issues.
