Authorities Investigating Roadside Robbery in Peotone Area

The Will County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents of a heavy police presence from Will, Kankakee and Lake (IN) County police and municipal police in the eastern townships, particularly the Grant Park/ Peotone and surrounding areas due to an armed robbery that occurred last night, 2/7/25, at 9:34 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to E 12000N Road, for a Peotone family who was traveling westbound, approaching S. Kedzie Avenue, when they pulled to the side of the road to change a flat tire in their Honda SUV.
The male driver and his wife exited the vehicle while the driver removed the back tire. At that time, a large, dark colored SUV pulled up going eastbound with three male/black subjects inside and asked if they needed assistance. The driver stated that he did not need help, when two of the subjects exited the SUV and approached the couple with pointed firearms and demanded all their valuables.
The driver gave his wallet and the wife gave some cash to one of the subjects. The second subject opened the back passenger door where an adult female and her infant were seated. The second subject held a gun to the female demanding valuables. The female gave the armed subject a diaper bag which contained her wallet. The offenders got back into their vehicle and drove away.
Deputies called Beecher Emergency personnel to the scene to check out the victims who were visibly upset. All refused to be transported and did not sustain any injuries.
Deputies also alerted Kankakee and Lake, IN, County Police and municipal police agencies who all began a saturated search of roadways, FLOCK camera information, home and farmhouse video cameras, gas stations and other businesses with video surveillance.
As of this morning the offending vehicle nor offenders have been identified.
The offenders are described as male, black, over 6 feet tall, both with beards, dark clothing and wearing hats. The offenders’ SUV is large, dark colored, and may be a Suburban or a Tahoe.
