Woman Cited in DUI-related crash

Tara Marinez (45, Joliet) was arrested and released on a Notice to Appear for Aggravated DUI, DUI, DUI – BAC Over .08, and Violation of Pre-Trial Release.
On January 30, 2025, at 6:33 p.m., Officers responded to Houbolt Road and McDonough Street for a report of a traffic crash with injuries.
A preliminary investigation of the crash determined the following: Marinez was driving a Hyundai Sonata northbound on Houbolt Road approaching McDonough Street. It is believed that Marinez disregarded a red traffic light and entered the intersection, striking the trailer of a Freightliner semi-truck driven by a male (58, Bolingbrook) that was turning left onto eastbound McDonough Street from southbound Houbolt Road.
The Sonata came to final rest stuck under the trailer. Marinez was extricated from the vehicle by the Joliet Fire Department, and she was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
There were three additional passengers in the Sonata. These passengers, as well as the driver of the semi-truck were uninjured in the crash. Upon receiving medical care at the hospital, it was determined that Marinez held a blood alcohol content of approximately three times the legal limit, and she was placed into custody for DUI.
Officers learned that Marinez’s driver’s license was suspended due to a previous DUI charge. It was also determined that Marinez was under conditions of pre-trial release from a previous aggravated battery to a peace officer charge.
Marinez was also cited for Driving While License Suspended, Disobeying a Traffic Control Device, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Marinez was released on a Notice to Appear at the hospital due to the extent of her injuries and that she was due to be transported to
Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood for further medical treatment of her injuries.
