Joliet Police Seek Help in Shooting

Massey’s death underscores state delay in launching mental health response program

On January 18, 2025, at 6:04 a.m., Officers responded to the 300 block of Youngs Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, Officers located numerous spent shell casings in the street and discovered a nearby residence which had been struck by multiple rounds of gunfire. One person was inside of the home at the time of the shooting, but there were no reported injuries.

Officers completed a canvass of the neighborhood and were unable to locate any victims or any additional property l which had been struck.
