Injuries Suffered in Ruby Street Accident
On January 17, 2025, at 9:34 p.m., Officers responded to Ruby Street and North Broadway Street for a traffic crash with injuries.
A preliminary investigation of the crash determined the following: A Nissan Altima driven by a male (34, Joliet) was traveling westbound on Ruby Street when it struck a Lexus RX 350 driven by a male (67, Naperville) which was traveling northbound through the intersection on North Broadway Street at Ruby Street.
The Nissan then struck a Kia Carnival driven by a female (51, Joliet) which was stopped facing southbound on North Broadway at Ruby Street. The collision with the Nissan caused the Lexus to collide into the front of a business located at 205 Ruby Street.
The driver of the Nissan was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Silver Cross Hospital by the Joliet Fire Department with serious, but stable injuries.
A female passenger of the Nissan, as well as the male driver and a female passenger of the Lexus were transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Kia was not injured. A juvenile passenger of the Kia was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The roadway was closed for a period of time as traffic investigators reconstructed the crash scene. This crash remains under active investigation.
