Lockport Township Government and Jewel-Osco Partner to Provide Free Senior Health Screenings
Lockport Township Supervisor Alex Zapien and Jewel-Osco are excited to announce a new partnership to offer free health screenings to seniors in Lockport Township. This initiative serves residents ages 55 and older in Lockport Township, which includes parts of Lockport, Romeoville, Plainfield, and Crest Hill.
Through this innovative program, eligible residents can access complimentary health screenings and services at Jewel-Osco locations in Lockport Township, specifically at the Romeoville (20 S Weber Rd.) and Lockport (16625 W 159th St.) locations.
Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Lockport Township Supervisor’s Office at 815-838-0380, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Services can often be scheduled within two days of making the appointment.
The following services are included in the program:
• Flu & Strep Tests: Quick diagnostic tests to check for flu or strep throat.
• Biometric Screenings: Comprehensive health checks, including blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol readings.
• A1c Tests: Blood tests to measure average blood sugar levels over the past 2–3 months, aiding in diabetes screening and monitoring.
• Pink Eye Services: Diagnosis and treatment recommendations for pink eye.
• Anti-Nausea Services: Assistance and guidance for managing nausea symptoms effectively.
• Shingles Shots: Vaccinations to help protect against shingles, a painful viral infection.
Supervisor Alex Zapien expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, “Our seniors are the backbone of Lockport Township, and I’m thrilled to provide these essential health services at no cost, especially during flu season and these challenging economic times. By focusing on preventive care, we can help keep our community healthier and more resilient.”
Residents simply need to schedule an appointment with the Lockport Township Supervisor’s office and attend their preferred Jewel-Osco location on the scheduled date. Any costs not covered by insurance will be directly billed to and paid by Lockport Township Government.
