Missing Joliet Woman Found
The Will County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to report that thirty-six-year-old, Amanda Smeeton of Joliet has been found safe. On 12/15/2024, at approximately 2:39 PM, deputies located Amanda Smeeton whom had been reported missing on 12/09/2024. Amanda was located at a residence in the City of Joliet by members of the Will County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon Amanda being located, deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Joliet Fire Department to transport Amanda to a local area hospital due to her medical condition.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone that assisted in providing tips and information pertaining to possible sightings of Amanda Smeeton during a time in which her family was in desperate need of answers.
Amanda is currently at a local area hospital, with her family by her side.
Amanda Smeeton, age 36, of Joliet, was reported missing to the Will County Sheriff’s Office on 12/9/2024.
The Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in locating her. She is described a having blue eyes, curly brown hair, 5’4″ tall, and weighs about 105 lbs.
A relative of Amanda’s reported her missing and provided deputies with information regarding Amanda’s whereabouts the past few weeks. The relative stated that Amanda had been struck by a vehicle in another state and suffered major injuries to her leg and pelvis.
Upon returning to Illinois, Amanda was receiving further treatment at a Naperville hospital and was in a wheelchair. The relative stated that she had not seen Amanda and upon speaking to hospital staff, was advised that Amanda checked herself out on 12/6/2024.
Detectives continue to gather tips and information regarding Amanda possibly being last seen near a Burger King in Naperville. They have also been told that Amanda may have been seen at the Burger King in Bolingbrook, near Weber Road and W. Boughton Road.
Further information indicates that Amanda may have been at Trader Joe’s in Naperville. Sheriff’s detectives are currently working to verify this information.
Additional identifiers of Amanda include four tattoos: an animal print on her left forearm, a heart on one of her left hand fingers, a star on one of her right hand fingers, and a dream catcher on her back. Amanda has a long scar on her front abdomen. She may have a cast on her leg and may have her wheelchair with her.
To ensure Amanda’s safety and well-being, any sightings of her should be reported to 911 immediately.
