16-Year-Old Girl Arrested in Connection with Stabbing over Social Media Dispute

On December 9, 2024, A 16-year-old female was arrested, processed, and transported to the River Valley Justice Center for Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Battery on a Public Way, and Aggravated Battery causing Great Bodily Harm or Permanent Disability or Disfigurement.
On December 9, 2024, at about 2:45 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Newport Drive regarding a stabbing of a juvenile victim (15, Bolingbrook).
Officers met with the victim and witnesses who advised that the victim was stabbed by a juvenile female suspect. The victim and suspect know each other. This incident stems from a dispute through social media between the victim and suspect.
The victim received a stab wound to the torso area of her body. The victim and witnesses gave the name of the juvenile suspect to the officers. The officers went to the suspect’s residence where they made contact with her mother. The whereabouts of the suspect was unknown at that time.
The victim was transported to the local hospital. While receiving medical treatment, medical staff discovered the injury was more serious than initially thought. The victim underwent surgery to repair the injury. The medical staff advised that the victim was in a stable condition.
At about 6:30 p.m., the juvenile suspect went to the Joliet Police Department with her parents. Officers met with them and took the juvenile into custody. Investigators interviewed the juvenile. The juvenile provided a statement consistent with the facts of the case.
The Juvenile suspect, after being interviewed, was brought to the Joliet Police booking area where she was processed and taken to the River Valley Justice Center without incident.
