Wilmington Man Arrested for Solicitation of a Minor
From Wilmington Police:
On Saturday 11/02/2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Mar Theatre for a report of an adult male subject who reportedly traveled to meet whom he believed to be a 15-year-old female.
The adult male, identified by officers to be Matthew Naughton of Wilmington, was instead met at the planned location by the members of the “Predator Proof ” Facebook page who were operating a decoy account on a dating app.
Naughton was located by officers who transported him to the Wilmington Police Department for additional investigation. Following interviews with the involved parties, and a review of established evidence, Matthew was arrested and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Naughton remains in custody with the following charges pending: Solicitation to Meet a Minor, Class 4 Felony; Traveling to Meet a Minor, Class 3 Felony.
